Chris Elder - Journeyman HVAC/R Mechanic, AScT, Gas-B Fitter, FSR
Our Story

IN Control and HVAC Systems was founded in January 2016 by Chris Elder in Victoria, BC.  The draw of the mountains and a different lifestyle prompted a move to Nelson, BC in January 2017.

While working on building new relationships with clients in the Kootenay's, we continue to build our knowledge and expertise through the latest product training programs.

Engineering Technologist and

Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic

After completing a diploma of Electrical Engineering Technology in 2006, founder Chris Elder began his career in the field of Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems.  While developing his career working on everything from small bid-and-spec commercial integrations to large design-build LEED projects, he became a member of the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC.

During his career it became clear that many engineers lacked mechanical equipment installation and service experience.   How can a proper control system be designed without such hands-on knowledge? It made sense that in order to become a better DDC systems engineer, one also needed to become an experienced trades person.

A few years later in 2013, Chris earned his ticket in the trade of Refrigeration and  Air Conditioning Mechanic - including certifications under the BC Safety Authority as a B-Gas Fitter and Field Safety Rep (FSR-RE) .

Working with industry leaders on high-efficiency equipment ranging from residential heat pumps to custom ammonia ice facilities, diverse field experience is constantly enriching an existing skill-set.
